When the National Pathways Initiative convened leadership for the 2023 National Pathways Summit, there was an extraordinary level of bi-partisan and cross-sector agreement, not just on what to do but how to do it, to create a more seamless pathway from education at all levels to career success. However, in a relatively short time frame, some significant changes have taken place that must be addressed in order to achieve high-level success. 

Our labor market continues to change rapidly. Opportunities are growing in fields like semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, cyber security, health care, biotech, green jobs and information technology. Students and faculty need to understand and address the workplace skills needed to succeed in these areas. And those skills need to be incorporated into career preparation at all levels. Tools to address these changes, including but not limited to artificial intelligence and credit-bearing microcredentials, are also developing rapidly and can be critically important in achieving measurable gains. 

The National Pathways Summit 2025 will be held on May 8, 2025 in Washington D.C. where we will bring together a diverse group of cross-sector leaders to address transforming our traditional education models to better prepare all students for successful careers in our rapidly evolving economy while keeping pace with modern workforce demands. Speakers and participants will include governors and congressional leadership from both parties, CEOs, Administration officials, educators, Civil Rights advocates, and student leaders.
